Veteran e-Sports publisher and organizer Garena Online, best known in Malaysia for competitive titles such as League of Legends and EA SPORTSTM FIFA Online 3, is expanding beyond its traditional PC e-Sports platform into the mobile realm through its recently-released mobile game, Headshot.
Headshot is a real-time multiplayer shooting action game, allowing players to team-up or face-off against each other. It boasts an array of modern weapons classified under assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns and machine guns, as well as a set of strategic equipment ranging from grenades, RPGs, sentry drones and armoured vehicles. Players can bring all this firepower to bear in multiple game modes including campaign, co-op, survival, PVP, and an upcoming free-roam FPS mode.
The PVP (player-versus-player) mode is naturally where the most intense action occurs, and Headshot players in Southeast Asia were treated to a whole lot of it earlier this month, at the Falcon Dual Masters International Tournament (video). Hosted in Vietnam, the tournament had close to 3,000 fans watch the best Headshot players from Taiwan, China, Thailand and Vietnam compete for a prize pool of USD 50,000 (approx. MYR 200,000).
Headshot has previously been released by Garena in Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand, where it remains the #1 action game on both the Apple AppStore (iOS) and Google Play (Android). It is also widely popular in China and Korea, occupying the top charts weeks at a time. The English-language version was released in Malaysia and Singapore on 16 June 2016. It is currently the #1 game in the Malaysian Apple AppStore (iOS), and one of the top-5 action games on Google Play (Android).
