Maklumbalas Jaeyong
Good morning guys! As some, a very minor of you guys, should've read/heard about a possible 'drama' regarding me buying slot/team. For those who is interested or who care about the story, please continue reading, gotta be pretty long. (No chinese translation so someone if you can, please do so, I've no time frown emoticon !)
So there's few statements I would like to make and yeah. Like I've said, initially I planned to let this slide because I thought it's no big deal, but after seeing few negative comments, I thought it's my responsibility to explain it on behalf of my team and it's my responsibility as a 'public figure' of the scene to justify things and to educate the other players who cares about the scene for the better.
First and most important statement, is BUYING/TRADING/ACQUIRING slot ILLEGAL? As far as I'm concern, it isn't illegal, CONFIRMED after an investigation made towards me by the TLC & Garena officials yesterday, (yes I went to garena). I was prepared for at least a season's ban as punishment, but not without defending myself. Put other sports aside, let's just talk about league and be practical here. There may be many examples but one most solid example would be team EG migrating from EU to NA, and buying over Team Velocity's challenger spot to play for relegation and eventually made it to LCS. I've been playing competitively since 2011, which marks about 4 years. And since day 1 I've been careful and made sure I did not do anything illegal and/or against the rules. And if I had known about buying slot being illegal, I would never, in my clearest mind have the guts to do so, or at least do so using my own name. Someone (did not wanna involve other individuals) came up with the suggestion of it, which I'm super glad that it did, and someone offered to do it on behalf of me in case of THIS exact scenario. But I had faith in the kids and the players, and the good people in the community! And I went on doing it myself because I thought it would be more 'professional' for me to do so. So I went on doing what I thought was right, and what I thought was needed for my team to qualify to TLC.
Secondly, I would like to explain why I/we were forced to make this move. I was the ex captain of team KLH, and we have 1 ex KLH member, 2 ex DGC member and 1 freshmen. 4 of us would HAVE to qualify via novice cup if we wanna start fresh. but 2 of our main players couldn't make it, so we had to go with subs. And honestly, we thought it shouldn't be that hard, but we underestimated our opponent, which they played really really good games (something good for the scene), and we lost. I'll be honest, Buying slot is extremely, super super super shameful, I'm ashamed when I'm having talks, or even have the thoughts of doing so. But you gotta do what you gotta do, right? smile emoticon We were super lost and upset when we lost knowing we missed our last chance to qualify. And that was when kind friends started coming up with suggestions and solutions. We had many choices, including joining a team which has a slot in TLC Promotionals (which I believe is nothing wrong, AT ALL), but we thought it would be FAIRER for the scene, and it would be BETTER for our name to do it from the bottom to the top. So we proceeded with trying to do it on our own, which resulted in having to acquire slot.
On top of that, people ask, you just won TLC ? Why do you wanna leave? Isn't it the best time to stay? Yes it is! Definitely, but I'm passionate for E-Sports, and I have commitments, I have my life that I need to take care of. I didn't have enough time to continue being KLH team leader and spending so much time with the team, which I thought would be unfair to the team if i Had stayed with my commitments. It was a tough decision, but I still value and treasure them as my friends and ex teammate! And ultimately, wanna know why it's important for me to do this? In Malaysia, or maybe even SG/MY, have there been like a huge rivalry like TSM vs CLG, like SKT vs KT, like Fnatic vs ORIGEN? NO! That's why the scene is sorta dead. Why? Oh KLH vs (etc etc), KLH sure win la, or some minor crowd supporting the other team (considering for some God knows reason some people seem to dislike me). But what happens when there's KLH vs eS ? I believe it would hype things up, I believe people would see the spark in E-Sports. And of course, I LOVE winning, who doesn't? And beating KLH is an achievement, that's what everyone SHOULD strive for in the competitive scene of Malaysia. Many people CLAIM that they care and they did alot for the scene, but sorry to call your bullshit, it's complete bullshit, for some individuals. We have people trying to create drama, trying to put other teams down, trying to put someone down, trying to cyber-bully. Hey man, I'm a normal guy, I gossip, I have people I hate too, but I never, never made things public, and I've never put anyone down, ever. Whoever is in competitive scene, good or bad, toxic or nice, is a honorable opponent. Why do some people have the time, and intention to cause havoc? smile emoticon
Thirdly, Education of the younger generation. Guys, come on. You wanna be a pro? Strive and try! You're young. Guys, what's right or wrong? There's nothing really RIGHT, or WRONG. Do what you feel is right, or necessary. Guys, always try to cheer and support for local talents, local teams, local scene, always try to have a less toxic, nicer community, we're all friends, aren't we? :') And one more very very important thing that I thought people should know. Did you know sharing a personal conversation of an individual by LAW, real LAW not LEAGUE LAW, is ILLEGAL? You could be charged and sued if someone is childish. So think twice before SS-ing to someone, as you may never know how it could be used against you.
Lastly, if the community really felt that what I've done is wrong doing and by any means illegal, please, please report to Garena and have a poll or something, if thats what the majority think about certain acts, make it a general ruling, and I'm willing to be punished, even a lifetime ban is fine for me. But guys, once again, think twice, think wise. Let's make things better, for everyone.
I would like to thank my girlfriend for backing me up, good friends who's on my side, friends who helped out, my fans, and anonymous! And most importantly, OWL and GARENA OFFICIALS for being cool as fuck and taking the right measurement to investigate on this matter and in the end claiming that I'm not doing anything against the rules, was nice working with you guys! In all honesty, I was never the biggest fan of Garena, but hey. Things are changing, and I hope things continue changing, Garena have more better staffs, and have more better structure, let's work with them and produce better results, better scene! And I'm really thankful how Garena is willing to push our scene to the international level by not punishing me and claiming my act is illegal, much thanks!!!
And guys, SPC will start in 10 mins, me and my team will still do our BEST, and BESTEST to do welll and hopefully win it fair and square and move on to the next level. Until then, THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! And see you in TLC (Hopefully) ! smile emoticon (Might've missed something but meh, time is valuable).
TL;DR : I'm a slot buyer and I'm ashamed about that.
