E-sukan managed to conduct an interview with K2 Apes Nasiruddin Nordin regarding the issue between K2 Apes vs Invasion in Ti5 SEA Open Qualifiers.
Hi Nasiruddin. Can you tell us what actually happened during the game of Invasion vs K2. Apes in Ti5 Open Qualifiers?
Well it started at the 7min mark where lordboonz got disconnected. Slickz said he was lagging and needed to restart his modem.So, we waited for 15mins but he never came back. Therefore, we applied the rule, “If 10mins of pause is used, we can resume the game unless admin states otherwise” but the admin were never there.So, we go on playing until the 22min mark when we took roshan and our meepo(ah jit) was really fat and we are starting to snowball but right there, the game is stopped. Slickz paused again and suddenly an admin came and said that they will remake where this game is paused and then they call for a chat at our match page which is private. Many things happened during the chat, the admin say lordboonz cannot reconnect at all. It was the server problem itself and Invasion want a remake from the start where we start a new game. We totally refused as we already revealed our plan during the first game and we were doing really well to be honest. Then the admin said it’s for the sake of sportsmanship and all and insist for a remake. We were devastated, we totally lost our mood to play already. We also insist that we don't want a remake but then the admin just gave us a password and asked us to join. It was a force remake then we just resume the current game and end it. Then they called us again forcing us to join. At last, we did. We agreed to make a new draft as we already revealed our plan in the first game. The 2nd game started with us playing without any spirit left. We were sad and devastated. Then, we had a discussion with the faceit management and it is still going on until now. Thats what roughly happened.
We heard about the issue regarding reconnecting during the qualifiers. Did the organizer mention anything about the issue? We rarely heard about having issue reconnecting in other tournaments as player can easily reconnect via Dota 2 after dc
Not at all to be honest. Only Invasion had the chance to remake the game regarding this problem. Other teams just had to accept lose.
May I know that is it because Lordboonz left the game so he can’t reconnect? or he just can't reconnect via the platform?
He can’t reconnect via the platform. It’s the faceit problem to be honest
How many teams were facing the same issue that you know?
From what I heard, somewhere around 3-4 teams, but the teams that i know is Intrepid that had this problem. They came and told us that they had the same issue also
The Jandahunter mentioned about you guys wanted to continue and unpaused the game asap because 1 of you want to go on dating. Can you explain what’s going on?
That one was literally a joke from our player. Nothing more
Many fans thought it was true. Do you think it’s appropriate to make such joke at this level?
It is not appropriate actually, but it did happened. Our apologies about that. It meant nothing, was just a joke nothing more.
Did they offer to reload the game instead of remake it?
Thats the problem, they can't reload it. Like i said, it was more of the server problem than the team’s problem.
Lets talk about sportsmanship. Well, Invasion is playing in unfair condition due to the technical issue and Faceit admin was only available after 7 min game time + 10 min waiting time + 15 min 4 v 5 game time. So basically, during the 15 min 4v5 game, team K2 Apes is having a big advantage. Do you think it’s fair to Invasion?
If think logically, it is not but we are playing according to the rules and I believe it is fair. They never mentioned that boonz cannot reconnect. They only said that he had to restart his modem.
When only you know the issue was can’t reconnect at all even after restarting the modem?
When it was 22min in the game and the admin called for a chat in the match page.
Isnt that reloading the match at 7min a better solution?
Yes, but they can't reload it. The system somehow have a problem.
You mentioned about the discussion you have with faceit until now. Do you mind telling us what’s the conclusion?
It is rather an apology from them and other thing is pretty much private. It is still not done yet though.
If you are the organizer, what will you do?
We will stick to the rules. Nothing more.
People are saying that you guys are trying to take advantage of Invasion while they have bad luck with 1 of their players. Do you have any statement regarding this?
No,we are not. We also want to play fair by following the rules. Thats all
Have you ever face such condition in other tournaments?
Nope. Never in my life before. This is the first time.
You mentioned that Faceit had apologize to your team regarding their decision. Do you accept their apologies?
It’s hard. Because opportunity like this doesn’t come everyday u know? We have practised really hard for this. It’s very sad
After all the experience, what do you think about the organizer and the system used in Ti5 open qualifier?
Not that good. It can be improved a lot but yeah, bad things happen and we learn from it
Do you think it’s the player’s fault, using more than 10 minutes time to contact Faceit admin?
I think since it’s a big match, admin should be ready to provide any assistance during the match.
Beside the reconnect issue do you think faceit system are good compared to conventional way of doing online tournament
Yes. It’s good actually. You can't use smurf and lie etc
Lastly, what lesson can you learn from this event and any shoutout to all your fans?
Well, we need to be more careful when playing in tournaments that use their own system. Shoutout to any fans if we have any and ah jit the young talent!!
