In Sarawak, E-Sports was always but a dream. We do have communities and cyber cafes willing to pump in for the scene but it hasn’t reached the goals and targets of us Sarawakian. The only thing we can start venturing through is by competing in online events and also any local tournaments that’s possible. Since 2008, I started competing as a DotA 1 player and brought up a new team to play. I got demolished in the first round of SMM. But it was all cool as we’re facing a tougher adversary to me. The team went to disband and some players still follow me for a while. It was around CoZee cyber cafe when things are starting to spice up. I led the team to a double-elimination bracket to Top 8 in 2009. It was memorable because we were the only team out of cyber cafe sponsored teams ranging from Top 1 to Top 7. If people ever remembered team OMG, that’s me. Now, let’s zoom in a bit further. I have ever competed various events possible but the prizepool is still rather low but is comparable to West Malaysia’s amateur competition level slightly but lower. Around 2010, I managed team MaDNet OutlawZ as I was appointed by one of their main player through Garena Clan War Room and was also the admin for Malaysia DotA Room 07 for almost 3 years. Making sure the room is filled with mannered and respectful players instead of trolls. In that very same year, it was also my debut into competitive being Top 2 in Swinburne University in a competition held in the known university venue. I called myself SDT and then outside of the university to amateur level, I am a team manager for MaDNet OutlawZ as appointed. We won 3 times against Gizmo in the past venture. It was a winning streak in that very same year before disbanding as well. The team led to disperse and set alongside to form new teams once again. On the next year which is 2011, Sarawak scene was always cool with mixture of Miri and Sibu or Bintulu teams waging wars around with. They are smaller cities compared our Kuching which have the best stronghold for facilities and competitive events alike. I respect some of them until then. I led a team called Angry Birds but I do admit I don’t train very hard as a leader. My main role is to proof that the players I have picked will have a better future in their competitive part-time DotA or Dota 2 adventure in their own team or vice versa. And before saying so, their team called DCT is one of the largely successful amateur team in Kuching to be honest to say and they are consistent.

That very same year, I’m also the team founder for KMG also known as Kolo Mee Gaming. What I still lack is still training and I have more passion in coaching or advising. We eventually won the very first endorsed university event at Swinburne with a different roster and is organized by Gizmo. I am thankful for that as it proofs that my passion have led me to the very first championship played by myself. The finals were the best out of all other final you have seen besides 2015 recently which have a rather interesting finals game to watch out for. 81 minutes is what I have recalled. A game of push and mind games.

As I slowly disappeared myself from the competitive scene in 2011, it was due to the lack of continuing in the scene as the prizepool is still not enough for a player like me. I am pretty sure some of the players that was once with me understand that but still go on. I still support my former team mates that still competes since the recent result of Boulevard Dota 2 Tournament 2015. They obtained second placing but it was all rather fine to me. They deserved it with the new roster and they have somehow found a new solo mid player that will spark a new era for Dota 2 in Kuching. But in between all these years, I have also obtained Top 16 out of 256 SEA teams which happened in 2013 called The Rampage event. I treat that as an experience rather than an achievement. So, that was my first impression thoughts of all the events I joined. Managed to win a 1v1 Challenge in Singapore’s Alienware League against PMS female gamer’s leader as well at the same year with a free SteelSeries Dota 2 KANA Bundle which I think is much better than many local Sarawak events I have joined as of far.

Still, I left the scene entirely for Dota 2 into Hearthstone which I started to see some wins and losses as well. Able to compete with West Malaysians as you can see from my recent GosuGamers Hearthstone Cup venture and also Click-Storm event which raked my 4th placing in league points. I’m reluctant to own that Armaggeddon Nuke 7 earphone because nobody actually earn something from their own favorite games easily. Of course, I only mention the noticeable achievement out of many of my numerous wins in different games I played. Thought back again, will Sarawak actually improved and be recognized more? Regards of our main local cyber team have ever clinched 2nd place in Kuala Lumpur’s WCG event at 2012 and did not give up until then and is now called Team Glamorous. What do you say? Would you guys in the entire Malaysia support Sarawak’s passion? Also, I have respect for Sabah’s competitive team called Avatar in the past 3 years. It was all the competitive level at the highest peak despite a certain gap of exposure in E-Sports from East Malaysia side

Another thing, I would like to shoutout to team DCT aka Swinburne E-Sports , Glamorous , Avatar , Sky Garden and so much more who are the top teams in East Malaysia. I hope you guys can do your best into your adventure while I have my fun time solo-ing competitive Hearthstone! Peace up, guys.
