Info Before You Start to Trade

Okay guys, lately there’s been a lot of scam issues going around most group. Here’s some list that I made on how people scam. For new traders, do read before you post ‘Is this a scam attempt?’

1. The most typical scam, non trusted, no one verify, SELLING CHEAP ITEMS compared to their real price. This might look suspicious sale or an attempt to scam. After bank in through CDM or Bank Transfer, the seller block you. Please deal with trusted trader even though it cost you more.

2. 3rd Party Scam. Meaning, there are 3 parties involved. A, B, and C. A is dealing with B where B sell items and A wanted to buy the items. So A posted a post in any groups saying that he is selling. So, C directly pm A to buy. Then, A gave B’s account number to C. After C gave the money, A claimed to B that he transferred the money to B whereas it’s C who transferred. So, A claimed the items, and disappear by blocking both parties. In the end, B will look bad because his bank account was used for the scamming activities.

3. Trading in D2L (Dota 2 Lounge). I believe everyone has a D2L account. The seller want to trade expensive items with cheap items. For example, Arcana. Techies Arcana is the lowest of them all in Arcana’s group. The seller saying that trading Terrorblade Arcana for Techies Arcana with all 5 parts. During trade, after you are ready, the owner of TB’s arcana, WILL ASK FOR SOME SWEETS. while you are adding those sweets, he remove the Arcana, and clicked make trade, he will urge you to haste the process of trading. So, you trading your Arcana for nothing. P/S : Don’t rush when trading, Malaysia’s internet is not that super fast. Another one, use trade offer for safe trade and don’t be greedy just because of big win trade.

4. Middleman scam. When you’re dealing with other guys who is not verified as trusted trader, please use middleman that both of you knew and verified trusted by communities. If not, middleman will take both sides items then disappear, one party will lose everything. The provider of the middleman takes all.

5. Steam offer scam. By steam offer, they will say that they transfer the money to you by steam offer then the money will be accounted in your wallet. PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT STEAM WALLET CANNOT BE TRANSFER TO OTHER ACCOUNT unless it is STEAM WALLET CODE. Many have posted a picture of this type of scam, but really, why don’t they buy it from market instead of buying it with higher price from you? Think logic, don’t be greedy.

6. Steam Market Heroic Items Scam. There are lots of collector out there who’s buying some heroic items with ridiculous price. This scam attempt always happen in D2L. The seller posted a Dragonclaw Hook just for a common heroic items. Here’s the thing, the owner listed the specific heroic in market with, for example, 50 USD. When someone look at his post in D2L, they will buy the specific heroic in market just to trade it with the 200USD DC Hook. After you buy, the post gone and he got the money accounted to his steam account. Logically if the seller want it that bad, why don’t he sell his DC Hook and buy it in market? and, how does he or she knows that the specific tag and the specific items?

7. The confusing-and-I-don’t-know-how-to-call-this-scam-method. In D2l, A and B worked together to pull out this scam. A posted a heroic items in D2L. Then B posted there offering for example, 4 Kantusa the Script but A rejected and come C and that is you, looking at that post with ridiculous offer. Then A approach you saying that he or she likes your items. Wanted to trade with you. By looking at B’s offer (4 Kantusa), you traded with A. Then you come looking for C with the Kantusa’s offer, they’re gone. You got nothing except those shitty heroic. How to encounter this situation? Here’s the thing, ask A to trade with B first, then only you take with A but, after you say that, they would’ve blocked you already. Don’t go for heroic unless you know the teams, you know the value.

8. Description and Name changer scam. This is for Unusual Courier. Some might be new with unusual courier. This scam, they change the description and name with description changer’s tool and Name tag changer. By using CURSED items, there will be the same purple line at the courier’s picture, the same with unusual. Just to remind, unusual courier must have gem socketed. They must be socketed with Prismatic and Ethereal gem.

9. Impersonator scam. Always happen in Facebook’s Dota group. People make another fake account that look exactly like trusted seller’s account. They sell, you gave the money, then they block and change back their name. You lose, he win, for now. Before dealing, please check their account whether it is their real account of their fake account.

This is an advice for all traders, seller and buyer. be extra careful in trading, don’t rush anything, we need to make this society clean where there are no scam issues occur. For scammers list and trusted traders list, you can ask Midvalley KL or other admin listed during previous time.
